You may be thinking what has fibre to do with weight loss.
The truth is if your body is getting all the nutrients it needs it really does kick start or just plain help you lose weight. Plus fibre helps us to feel fuller longer.
So if you are wanting to lose weight and feel hungry often, increasing your fibre intake slightly might help (not too much though, too much of anything is not good).
Also we need fibre to help us to stay regular you know where.
So how can you easily get more fibre into your diet?
I love what I call the fibre toppings. They are in the grocery stores, there are a few brands, but as with anything pre packaged you really need to read the label to make sure that it is actually good for you and not filled with the stuff that we don’t want, like added sugar.
Just with the toppings you could
- Sprinkle on yoghurt or fruit
- Sprinkle on a salad
- Eat as a small snack
If you want to go the natural route or you want to choose what is in the fibre topping you can create your own.
Two fibre filled seeds are Chia Seeds and Flax Seeds. You can use them, but use them sparingly as they are strong and too much can cause you issues.
Like the toppings they can be sprinkled on yoghurt, fruit or salads. But you can also add a little to a smoothie or soup.
Chia seeds bulk up by absorbing liquid so a very little goes a long way.
