Our bodies were designed to process food from the planet, was it designed to process food manufactured with chemicals?  It is your choice what you eat, but knowing what goes into your body is important.  It can take years for the chemicals that we ingest to affect us.  Processed sugars are very popular and diet food companies added them to make their products taste better and last longer, well, have a longer shelf life.

People wanting to watch their waist line ate and drank the stuff in almost everything.  After several years the stories cam out about people going blind and other health problems.  Instead of a diet high in processed foods, why not try using them as occasional food.
